5 Things to Do Before Leaving your House for
Torres Del Paine Trekking Tours
If you do not plan before setting out on Torres
Del Paine trekking tours you will not be able to
enjoy it as much as you should or hoped for. Plan
before setting out and it will go like a breeze.
2
When planning a trek in the wilds one does not
simply pack a bag and set off. You need to plan
and be prepared before undertaking a rough trek
in Nature, far from civilization. These are the
five things to do before leaving your house for
Torres Del Paine trekking tours.
3
Book a tour with a local Chilean tour operator
Trekking along in the wild region of Torres Del
Paine is only for those who are experts. If you
are a casual trekker, you would be better of
booking a guided tour with Chiletourpatagonia.com.
You have the option of a regular W circuit or a
custom W trek. It is important to book with
Torres Del Paine trekking tours with ChileTour
Patagonia because there are reservations to be
made at hotels as well as campsites along the W
route or O route and you get the benefit of a
guide.
4
Toughen up
Book the tour at least a month before the
departure date. In the meanwhile, toughen up.
Each day one has to trek about 20 kilometres,
some of them over steep paths so it is best to
job or walk at least 10 kilometres before setting
off to Chile. Decide if you want to do the entire
O trek, the W trek or only small portions such as
trips to Los Cuernos or the French Valley.
5
Buy woollens, raincoats, boots and so on
You could arrive in Chile and rent woollens,
tents, boots and raincoats but these are
expensive over there. Buy locally and make sure
these are as lightweight as possible. You will be
trekking for 20 kilometres and if it is a heavy
rucksack on your shoulders, it will be more
tiring. Buy a first aid kit, water purifier
tablets and small but useful stuff like a torch,
a portable stove, spare batteries for your mobile
or camera. It is best to make a list and then
buy.
6
Foods to carry
You could probably get ready to eat stuff at
Puerto Natales but why wait till then? Your city
may have some stores offering specialist freeze
dried stuff that may be much better and you can
also have more to choose from. Select a
collection of chocolates, dried fruits, nuts and
high protein foods you can eat simply by adding
hot water.
7
Take care of insurance and travel documents and
health certificate
Take out extra insurance for an overseas trip and
have your travel documents checked by a travel
agency. Make sure to get shots against malaria
and other infectious diseases so you are fully
protected. You cannot afford to fall ill and
prove an inconvenience to the guide and other
guests on the trek. It does not matter if you
go alone for the trek because you will join up
with other trekkers and also make friends on the
route but if you can take a friend along, you
will enjoy the trek even more. Preparation is
the key to a hugely enjoyable trek in Torres Del
Paine.
