Title: Save Money by Choosing Low Voltage Transfer Switches

1
How Low Voltage Transfer Switches is a Good
Option?
2
What are Transfer Switch?
Automatic electrical transfer switches are
critical components of any emergency or standby
power system that switches the load automatically
between given sources. Manual transfer switches
are the one that is operated mnually. Automatic
switches are the ones that triggers automatically
when they sense one of source is lost and other
one generates power, It quickly and safely shifts
the load circuit from the normal source of power
to the emergency or alternate source of power.
It permits critical loads to continue running
with minimal or no outage. It also has a
re-transfer process that returns the load circuit
to the normal power source, when the normal power
source has been restored.

Automatic Transfer Switches(ATS)
  • Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS) has two control
    options available
  • Microprocessor based controls.
  • Electromechanical based controls.
  • When selecting the type of automatic controls to
use in the ATS, it becomes the preference of the
    specifying engineer. Typically speaking, more
control options are available with the
microprocessor controls in a cost saving range.
However, many people prefer the robustness of
    electromechanical controls along with their
simplicity of troubleshooting even with a few
limits on the available options and increased
    cost.
  • When navigating through the Transfer Switch links
below, please note that all ATS links will have
    Microprocessor based control information except
where the link specifically states it is for
    Electromechanical Controls.

Some Automatic Transfer Switches
6
Automatic Transfer Switch Differ From a Manual One
Manual transfer switches predate automatic
switches, but they are still used widely today.
Unlike automatic switches, manual switches
require one to switch from grid power to
generator power in the event of power outage, and
then back to grid power when it resumes. In
facilities that have a single, conveniently
located generator and don't require constant
power, the difference between manual and
automatic switches is negligible.
When you choose automatic switches immediately
connect a building to generator power as it
remains on grid power, while the automatic one
waits to access generator power until it reaches
a certain frequency. But they do come with a
risk if grid power suddenly returns while
generator power is also accessed, a power surge
could occur. However, because the period where
both sources are accessed is brief, the danger is
considered minimal.
7
The Advantages of Using an Automatic Transfer
Switch
When the electricity goes out, you can usually
withstand a few hours of darkness, heat, or cold
until it returns. But when your business
experiences a power outage, it could prove
tragic, especially if its critical functions
depend on constant power supply. This very
scenario is why many entities, including
hospitals, data centers, and even commercial
retailers have emergency backup generators. But
simply having a backup generator doesn't mean
that you're prepared for a power outage. To be
prepared, you need to ensure that your generator
is accessed via an automatic transfer switch and
not a manual one.
