QPlacing the device into operation
4
  • QSetting user adjustable features (what the
    setting features represent, i.e.,threshold
setting and their effect on false alarm and
    sensitivity of device

5
ASee manual pg. 24 and 25
6
  • Q displays and alerts (monitoring system status
    and recognizing and understanding system
    notifications)
  • ASee manual pg. 8

7
  • QConducting basic operator maintenance (charging
    of batteries, etc)
  • A See manual pg. 6

8
  • QOverview of how alarm algorithm works and how
the device sets and/or uses background including
answers to following questions Is alarm
threshold based on the detectors gross count rate
or a derived quantity such as
  • AThere are two modes Search Mode and Safety
Mode. Search Mode alarm threshold (Background
radiation level) (Search Alarm) x (standard
deviation of background radiation level). Safety
Mode sets Low or High absolute alarm threshold
based on dose and dose rate.

9
  • Q Is alarm threshold based on the detectors
gross count rate or a derived quantity such as
exposure rate or an energy-dependent count rate?
  • AThe alarm threshold is based on detector gross
    count rate and accumulated count.

10
  • QWhat time period (i.e. integration time) that
is used to assess whether or not radiation has
    exceeded threshold?
  • A125ms

11
  • Q How frequently is the threshold condition
    assessed?
  • A1Hz

12
  • QIs the alarm fixed or does it vary with
    radiation background?
  • ASafety Mode alarms (Low and High) are fixed
based on dose and dose rate including background.
Search Mode alarm varies with the background
    level.

13
  • QIf the threshold is fixed what are the
    threshold values?
  • ASafety Mode alarms (Low and High) are
programmable which can be set by users. Safety
    High default setting 200 µR/h range 0600R/h.
Safety Low default setting 50 µR/h range
    0600 R/h. Dose High default setting 25 R
range 0999.9R. Dose Low default setting 5R
    range 0999.9R.

14
  • QIf the threshold is variable, how high above
background is the threshold set? If the
difference is based on a formula should the
    formula be provided?
  • AThere are two modes Search Mode and Safety
Mode. Search Mode alarm threshold (Background
radiation level) (Search Alarm) x (standard
deviation of background radiation level). Search
Alarm number is how many sigmas (standard
deviation of stored background reading which was
    recorded after initial 36-second background
reading countdown). Safety Mode sets Low or High
absolute alarm threshold based on dose and dose
rate. Search Alarm default setting 5.8 range
19.9. Safety LOW and HIGH settings 0600mR/h.

15
  • QIf the threshold varies with the background,
how frequently and for what duration is the
    background measured?
  • AThe background was measured only when the
instrument was initially turned on. However, at
any time the background can be updated by users
    in Search Mode.

16
  • QIf the alarm decision is based on multiple
    variations, intermediate and multiple decisions
(i.e., energy windowing, region of interest
analysis, etc) how are the decisions processed
    and alarm decisions made?
  • AAlarm decision is only based on dose or dose
    rate.
