Title: Pros and Cons of Living Off Campus

1
Pros and Cons of Living Off Campus
2
  • While attending university, deciding to live off
campus is a major responsibility. Living alone
requires a lot of consideration, and you
shouldnt move off campus until youve weighed
the pros and cons of doing so. However, theres
no way to weigh these advantages and
disadvantages without knowing what they are.
Below is a list of these pros and cons.

3
The Pros of Living Off Campus
4
  • The pros of living off campus should be noted
first, because the pros truly outweigh the cons
here. First, believe it or not, living off campus
is less expensive than living on campus,
especially if youre sharing the expenses with
roommates. Secondly, Durham College off campus
housing offers apartment amenities, such as group
and private study rooms, a 24-hour fitness
centre, a theatre room and a recreation centre.

5
  • Off campus housing also offers more privacy and
freedom than a dorm room. Not only do you have
your own room, you have your own apartment. This
means that you wont have a roommate living a few
feet away from you, you can come and go as you
please, cook and eat when you want and have
friends and family over at any time.

6
  • Youll also be a part of an adult community with
adult responsibilities, such as grocery shopping
    and paying bills.

7
The Cons of Living Off Campus
8
  • Living off campus is enjoyable, but it also has
its downfalls. For example, youre farther away
from the university, its library and all its
    other resources.

9
  • Traveling to the class also wont be as
convenient and quick, and reliable transportation
may be hard to obtain. Plus, commuting everyday
could become expensive unless you live in one of
the rooms for rent Oshawa offers, which are close
to and provide direct access to Durham College.

10
  • Living alone can also be a little less secure and
intimidating. Youll also have loads of
    responsibility like cooking, shopping and
cleaning, which could shorten leisure and study
time. Finally, youll have to pay all the bills
as well as buy food, household supplies and more
every month. Paying so much monthly could prevent
you from indulging in certain luxuries, like
    eating take out.

11
  • Like all things in life, living off campus has
its pros and cons. But, just because its not all
roses, doesnt mean its not still worth
experiencing. Once again, the pros greatly
outweigh the cons, making off-campus living a
viable option for every college student. Itll
give you even more freedom, privacy, amenities
    and room to grow.
