Introduction
The IIT JAM is a national level entrance exam
conducted by the IITs for admission of students
for the Master degree courses in science such as
M.Sc. (Two Year), Joint M.Sc.-Ph.D., M.Sc.-Ph.D.
Dual Degree at various IITs and IISc. The IIT JAM
is conducted in the month of February. More than
10 thousand students appear in the IIT JAM exam
every year. The GATE is again a national level
entrance exam conducted by various IITs and IISc
to admit the students for the masters degree in
technology. Every year around 10 lakh students
appear for the exam.

There are some facts about IIT JAM is that the
student can give IIT JAM exam in two subjects by
filling the form separately whereas in GATE exam
the candidate can give exam in only one

IIT JAM Eligibility and GATE Eligibility
  • IIT JAM Eligibility
  • There is no age limit to appear in the exam.
  • IIT JAM is open to all nation candidates.
  • The JAM 2017 appearing candidates should have
    secured at least 55 marks in aggregate in all
    the subjects and language of bachelors all the
    year combined.
  • Note Those however belonging to SC/ST and PwD
    categories need to secure at least 50 marks in
    aggregate of the subjects.
  • The candidate need to submit the proof of their
    qualifying the degree examination by the month of
    September the admitting institute.

Marking Scheme of the IIT JAM Exam Paper
  • The examination is conducted ONLINE Computer
    Based Test (CBT)
  • The examination is the Objective type test.
  • The number of question asked in the exam is 60
    divided in the three sections.
  • The 60 questions consist of total 100 marks.
  • Unanswered or not attempted question are given
    zero marks.
