• Structure of Kaolin
• Kaolin is found in layered form and it is
  fundamentally a layered silicate mineral. Its
  one layer is attached through another by oxygen
  atoms. Kaolin is derived from Granite and other
  feldspar rich tor. There is presence of dry
  aluminum silicates in Granite rocks. These dry
  aluminum silicates are reformed by hydrothermal
  process and kaolin is formed. This whole process
  is called kaolinisation. In this process feldspar
  is transfigured into Kaolinite and the other
  mineral like Quartz and Mica left unchanged. The
  presence of other minerals affects the color,
  brightness, glossiness, and opaqueness of kaolin
  mineral.
