5 Dos and Donts for Everyday Dental Care at Home
2
Oral Hygiene
  • To have a great oral hygiene is something that
everybody wants to enjoy, from having a
fresh-smelling breath, pearly white teeth, to
healthy pink gums. For all these to happen, make
it a point to regularly visit your dentist, the
ideal number is twice a year.
  • This presentation will help you reach that goal.
Here presented are dos and don'ts of dental
hygiene that you can practice at home. The
information includes some daily routines and
things that promote a healthy lifestyle.

  • Here are the 5 Dos and Donts of Everyday Dental
    Care at Home

4
Do Use the Right Toothbrush
  • Choose the right toothbrush, which means a
soft-bristled multi-tufted toothbrush that can be
comfortably used all around the areas of your
mouth, and the one with an easy to grip handle.
  • In case you are suffering from arthritis or is
having trouble holding a regular toothbrush, you
should consider buying a good quality power
    toothbrush.
  • Once your toothbrush starts to get worn or too
soft, dont forget to change it. The average use
of a toothbrush is every three months.

5
Do Floss at least Once a Day
  • This tip is often suggested by dentists to their
practice because of its great benefits. Floss in
many ways and in many times. One of the best ways
to remove plaque in places where your toothbrush
    cant reach is through flossing.
  • If they are not removed, they can lead to gum
disease and tooth decay. Dental experts said that
brushing your teeth Is only 50 percent of the job
and the other 50 percent is the flossing.

6
Dont Brush Too Hard or Too Often
  • Brushing your teeth too hard and more than two
times a day is not right. Doing so can damage the
teeths root surface through abrading it can
    also cause gum recession.
  • If your mouth needs some freshening, you can try
eating fibrous food such as celery, carrots and
    apples.

7
Dont Snack on Sugary Foods
  • A study shows that one of the most common chronic
diseases of both children and adults is tooth
    decay, which is preventable.
  • The known major contributor to this illness is
the sugary food often present in peoples usual
diet. The oral bacteria consumes sugar that
releases acid which attacks the teeth then causes
    cavities or tooth decay.

8
Do Drink enough Water
  • Its important to keep your mouth moist. When
your mouth is dry, the biofilm or plaque
accumulation increases as well as your risk for
periodontal or gum disease and tooth decay.
  • Drinking plenty of water keeps you well hydrated,
which has a number of benefits for your body. In
your mouth, it promotes the healthful action of
saliva and it keeps the sensitive tissue moist.
