Title: What to Do During Dental Emergency Situations

1
What to Do During Dental Emergency Situations
2
Dental Emergencies can Occur Anytime
  • Its crucial to know what to when it happens,
especially if young kids are involved. There may
be instances when the situation arises when
youre located away from medical facilities.
Knowing how to respond will help prevent the
    dental issue from further developing.

3
  • Here are tips on how to handle dental emergency
    situations.

4
Dont Panic
  • This may sound a no-brainer but seeing someone
get hurt may heighten everyones emotions and
cause panic attacks. You need to remain calm so
you can think through the situation and prevent
making mistakes that could otherwise worsen the
    situation.
  • If you are unsure about the actions you should
take, you can call your dentist for immediate
assistance. However, if the dental office is not
yet available, you may also seek assistance from
health care professionals located near you.

5
For Broken Tooth, Keep the Fragment and Clean
the Area
  • Make sure to keep the broken tooth fragment safe.
Store in a saltwater solution or a glass of milk.
Next is to look into the area and clean it.
Remove any food debris and rinse your mouth with
    salt water or warm water.
  • If case you notice bleeding, try to stop it by
applying a moistened gauze in the area for at
least 10 minutes or until you see the bleeding
stop. Make sure to see your dentist as soon as
possible, especially if the bleeding wont stop.

6
For Broken Dental Work, Refrain from Attaching
the Fragment Yourself
  • If you notice broken braces, you may try to
remove the broken part unless doing so triggers
pain. In case it causes pain, what you can do is
cover the sharp edges with cotton. Make sure to
get in touch with your dentist right away. In
case your crown or filling has dislodged, you
will have to go to your dentist to reattach them.
  • Do not use any adhesives in stores when
attempting to reattach broken restorative dental
devices. Should you lose the broken fragment, you
can use sugarless gums to cover the area until
you get to the dental office.

7
For Toothache, Avoid Painkillers and instead
Contact Your Dentist
  • The best treatment for toothache depends on its
cause. You will need your dentist to look into
your mouth so please dont delay getting oral
checkups. If you notice your gums swell, this can
    be a sign of infection.
  • Do not immediately use painkillers as this may
not work and may only worsen the pain. Other
causes of toothache are heightened tooth
sensitivity or wisdom tooth that cannot erupt
fully. Either way, you need the help of oral
health care professionals to deal with the
    situation.
