• BFS Truck Training Offers licence classes for
  the Medium Rigid (MR), Heavy Rigid (HR), Heavy
  Combination (HC) and Multi Combination
  (MC/B-double) in Automatic or Road Ranger
  Gearboxes.

Training for HR Licence HC Licence
Licence Class Code Vehicles you can drive under this Class
HR Heavy Rigid Any truck or bus with three or more axles and GVM more than 8 tonnes Any trailer towed must not be more than 9 tonnes GVM Articulated buses included
HC Heavy Combination Articulated vehicles with more than three axles A Heavy rigid vehicle trailer combination including unladen dolly, with three or more axles Any towed trailer with a GVM more than 9 tonnes

Heavy Rigid HR Licence Requirements

• Have held a class C licence for at least a year
  or more
• Pass the HR knowledge test and pass as eyesight
  test.
• You should obtain a HVCBA log book and guide
  book.
• Need to pass the Heavy Vehicle Competency Based
  Assessment (HVCBA) and obtain a Competency
  Certificate

Heavy Combination HC Licence Requirements

• You should have held a MR or HR Licence or
  similar for more than an year
• Need to pass the HC knowledge test eyesight
  test
• Need to obtain a HVCBA log book and guide book
• Pass the Heavy Vehicle Competency Based
  Assessment (HVCBA) and obtain a Competency
  Certificate

Course Content for HR HC Licence

• Knowledge of pre-operation checks
• Cabin drill (which is must)
• Start, move off, shut down and secure the vehicle
• Managing Steering, Gears, Brakes and accelerator
• Create Maintain Crash Avoidance Space
• Protect Crash Avoidance Space
• Road Rules and directions
• Reversing and Hill stop/start
• Load securing
