Understanding Page Life Cycle
  • Users request the SharePoint Page using http.
  • ASP.NET calls the Windows SharePoint
    Services(WSS) File provider.
  • WSS file provider returns the page from File or
    Database.
  • Page is parsed by SafeMode parser if required.
  • Returned page is compiled by ASP.NET Compiler.
  • WSS File provider collects the page layout class
    and complies it.
  • ASP.NET engine adds SharePoint Context Data to
    the site meta data and retreives the associated
    master page.
  • Master page gets compiled and responded back to
    the user.

Creating Wiki pages
  • Click the Settings gear icon and choose Add a
    Page to create a wiki page.
  • A dialog box appears to fill up the creating page
    information.
  • Type the name for your page in the New Page Name
    text box and click Create button.
  • Name a title for the page using text editors,
    once title is named a URL will be generated which
    gives location of page in a site.
  • Created page will appear in site pages library
    and places in Edit mode
  • Recently modified or created pages can be found
    in wiki library via links on the lower left
    corner of the Quick Launch pane.

Creating Master Pages
  • Master Page represents chrome elements of web
    pages.
  • Master pages can be created using Design manager
    in SharePoint is as follows
  • Open Design manager from Look and Feel of
    settings.
  • Choose Edit Master Pages from design manager.
  • In the next step select Convert an HTML file to a
    SharePoint master page.
  • Now select new uploaded master page from master
    page gallery.

Creating Master Pages
  • Now check the status of newly uploaded master
    page is either conversion successful.
  • Preview the master page view. If you would like
    make any changes to master page, change them and
    upload it again.
  • Now go to the edit master page in design manager
    and choose the call-up menu of the new master
    page. Publish it as a main version and ensure
    that status is verified and Approved.

Creating Application Page
  • Crating an application page in SharePoint 2013 is
    as follows
  • In Solution Explorer, select the MySharePoint2013 
    project.
  • On the menu bar, select the project and click Add
    New Item.
  • In the Add New Item dialog box, select
    the Application Page.
  • Now name the page search items, and in the next
    select the Add button.
  • The application page will be display in source of
    Visual Web Developer designer
  • In source you can check the HTML elements of
    application pages.

Content Query Web Part
  • Commonly referred as ContentByQueryWebPart.
  • It is a component of Enterprise Content
    Management (ECM) functionality in Microsoft
    SharePoint Server.
  •  Combines and presents list items in a site
    hierarchy.
  • Also provides caching and query optimization for
    its SPSiteDataQuery object.
  • It can only aggregate list information or data
    within a single site collection.
