  • GROUP ACTIVITY
  • TOPIC PRESENTATION
  • FORMATIVE ASSESSMENT- 3
  • TOPIC PHYLUM VERTEBRATA
  • MADE BY GROUP IInd

2
VERTEBRATA
  • Vertebrates animals are bilaterally symmetrical,
triploblastic, ceolomate and segmented with full
    differentiation.
  • Well developed nervous system, circulatory
    system, execratory organs and brain.
  • They have notochord, dorsal nerve cord and lungs
    or gills for respiration.

3
PISCES
  • These are fishes.
  • These are mostly aquatic animals. Their skin is
    covered with skin or plates.
  • They respire by using their gills pouches.
  • On the basis of their endoskeleton the phylum
Pisces divided into two class -
  • Bony fishes
  • Cartilaginous fishes.

4
BONY FISHES
  • In bony fishes the endoskeleton is made up of
    skeleton.
  • Body is spindle-shaped. They have 3-4 pairs of
    gills.
  • They do not have swim bladder and they can stay
    in water without swimming.
  • They have two chambered heart. They are
    cold-blooded fishes.
  • Examples are- Rohu, Climbing perch, lung fish,
    cat fish, etc.

5
CARTILAGINOUS FISHES
  • These fishes have endoskeleton made up off soft
bones or cartilage which are very flexible.
  • They have 5-7 pairs of gills pouches.
  • These fishes are mostly found in marine water and
    found largely in every areas.
  • They have swim bladder and they cant stay at rest
    without swimming.
  • Some examples are- scoliodon(dog fish), electric
    ray, sting ray, etc.

6
AMPHIBIA
  • These animals are two lives i.e. they live on
water as well as in land.
  • They live in land but lay egg in water. Skin is
    smooth or rough.
  • Have three chambered hearts. Double circulation
of blood through hearts. Cold blooded animals.
  • Respiration is either by lungs, gills, or skin.
  • Examples are- common frog, toad, tree frog,
    salamander, etc.

7
REPTILLA
  • These are cold-blooded, terrestrial or aquatic
vertebrates with a dry water-proof body.
  • Teeth are present. They have three chambered
    heart.
  • Respiration takes place through lungs and gills
    are absent.
  • Examples are- tortoise, turtle, crocodile,
    chameleon, gharial, cobra, etc.

8
AVES
  • These are flying animals or birds. Warm-blooded
    animals.
  • Body is covered with feathers in streamlined
    shaped.
  • Respiration by lungs, four-chambered heart and
all the system are well developed. These lay eggs
    on trees.
  • Examples are- crow, sparrow, ostrich, duck,
    peacock, eagle, etc.

9
MAMMALIA
  • Warm-blooded, four chambered heart, RBC present.
  • Fully differentiation occurs.
  • Respiration through lungs, all the systems are
well developed. Have mammary glands, sweat
    glands, etc.
  • Kidneys are in bean-shaped and sexual
    reproduction takes place.
  • Examples are- human beings, rat, cat, bat, whale,
    elephant, etc.
