Japanese Calligraphy and The Seasons
Here in Japan, the seasons represent so much more
than a simple change in the weather. The seasons
dictate so much of traditional culture, from what
food is eaten, which Gods are celebrated and most
interestingly, how the home is decorated.

The first strong, south winds of the year signify
the coming of spring (?- Haru), beginning in
February and ending at the start of May. This is
the time of the cherry blossom (?- Sakura).

Summer (?- Natsu) begins with Typhoon season,
when most of the country is lashed with heavy
rain and strong winds, bringing at their end the
hot and humid months of July and August.
