Title: The Elderly Need a Pet for These Six Reasons

1
The Elderly Need a Pet for These Six Reasons
2
  • Most elderly live alone or live in an old home
with a group of people. Dogs can be most helpful
for them in the following ways

3
Good for General Health
  • Dogs are known to reduce stress and lower blood
pressure. They make the owners more social and
    physically active.

4
Prompt Reading
  • The mind works while you read. Most pet owners
search the internet for dog related information
and the reading stimulates their brain.

5
Living in the now
  • The elderly often begin to live in the past or
continue fearing the future. With a pet around
them, they prefer to live in the now.

6
They Help with Depression
  • Most elderly live a lonely life and get
depression. The company of a pet allows them some
activity and this helps them come out of
    depression.

7
Better Focus on Life
  • While the elderly are only busy thinking about
their physical and medical problems the dogs give
them a reason to think about other things in life.

8
Cats Require Less Care
  • Physically challenged elderly may not be able to
take care of dogs. A cat needs less care and
makes a nice pet. Small trained dogs or birds are
    also good.

9
  • Dogs and cats require some training to help the
elderly. Get them low cost spay and neuter in
Houston before gifting them to the elderly.
