Front Desk V/s Back Office 2 sides Of a Coin
  • There are no secrets to success. It is the result
of hard word, sheer determination and
preparation. It is not something that happens
overnight but it takes years of hard work by the
whole team. Today in almost all companies there
are two distinct types of employees those who
work in the front office and those who work in
the back office. These terms front office and
back office Solutions are used to describe the
two general facets of all customer related
business operations. The front office and back
office are the two sides of a coin and if any one
faces difficulties, the other gets hampered too.

General Difference
  • The most common and the obvious difference
between the back office and front office is the
work. Front office activities include more amount
of face-to-face interaction and are directly
connected to customers or clients, such as
marketing, sales, service and support. While back
office process outsourcing activities include all
other business functions and activities that
    arent customer-facing. These include major
accounting and finance, the human resource
    department and the data department.

Skill Set
  • Both the front office desk as well as the
back office desk needs extremely well organized
skills. Front office team requires good
interpersonal skills as they deal with the client
    face-to-face. Good listening and understanding
client need along with sales skills are a must
for front office executives. Back office is the
back bone of any organisation. The skill set
required by back office team depends upon the
department and the position held. Basic computers
skills are essential for both the front and the
back office but these skills vary. Front desk
might just need to schedule appointments but the
back desk has to use a computer for various other
    advanced programs. Word processing, ledger
systems, billing personnel and other many other
skills are required by back office. But the most
important are excellent oral and written skills
    for back office employees.

Importance
  • Front office is something that attracts,
sells and retains customers. Stores, sales,
service and support workers represent the face of
your company to the market. Remember that any
business that relies on customers and clients
wont be able to survive and thrive without
effective front office operations. As said back
office is the back bone of any company and it
doesnt necessarily have to take a back seat. Not
having the correct back office executives can
    seriously harm your business.
  • If its a start up and youre not sure
about the back office team, you can always go for
back office outsourcing process. This will
indeed be a greater help as all the back office
work would be handled by experienced
professionals of the outsourced company. Back
office activities are a support system for the
front desk. They plan for, monitor and even
    improve ongoing business operations. Remember
what your clients see are the results from data
    gathering, strategic meetings and operational
decisions taken by the back office.
