Tooth Extraction Infection Symptoms

Dr. Din may need to extract one or more of your
teeth for a variety of reasons. The most common
ones include severe tooth decay, wisdom teeth
removal, to create room for other teeth to shift
during orthodontic treatment, and to remove the
remainder of a tooth when part of it has been
knocked

out in an accident. In the majority of cases, the
procedure goes smoothly and patients are back to
normal in a day or two. Since tooth extraction
infection symptoms do occur occasionally, its
important to know what they are so you can seek
immediate treatment at our dental clinic.

Common Signs of Infection After a Tooth
ExtractionAlthough pain and bleeding is normal
after having a tooth pulled, it shouldnt
continue past 48 hours. When these symptoms
persist beyond that point, it indicates that an
infection has developed at the site of the
extraction. This typically occurs due to the
growth of bacteria.
5
Please contact Dr. Din right away so he can get
both the pain and bleeding under control and
prescribe a medication to treat the
infection.Swelling near the site of the
extraction or on the face also indicates the
presence of an infection. When the swelling
reaches the face, this means that the infection
is spreading. You will need immediate treatment
to get it to stop.
6
Emergency Treatment is AvailableIf youre
experiencing unrelenting pain, uncontrolled
bleeding, or swelling of the mouth or face after
having a tooth pulled, we encourage you to
contact our clinic immediately. Dr. Din will meet
you to provide emergency treatment at any hour if
it has become necessary.
7
If you prefer to wait until regular office hours,
try taking non-prescription pain medication and
lying down with a heat pack. For excessive
bleeding, place gauze at the site of the
extraction and bite down hard on it.Dr. Din and
his staff hope that you never experience
complications after a tooth extraction, but we
want to assure you that were here for you if
anything out of the ordinary does happen.
