Why Wouldnt My Toilet Flush in the First Go?

  • Its extremely frustrating when the toilet
wouldnt flush all the way. It uses up a lot of
water plus it gets a tedious task to make sure
the toilet bowl is clean. If you happen to have a
problematic toilet that wouldnt flush in the
first go, may be its time to replace it.
Although, first you need to figure out whats
causing the issue. There can be several reasons
for it. Check them out below

3
Broken lift chain
  • A good possibility is that the toilet lift chain
is broken or stretched too much. lift the lid on
the back of your toilet seat to check. If there
is an issue with the chain, it wont let the
flapper rise to the full level that allows water
to fully flush. Most plumbing service companies
can fix the chain effortlessly, so its best to
get in touch with your local plumber.

4
A Worn Flapper
  • The rubber flapper is at the bottom of the toilet
tank. The flapper raises to let water empty into
the bowl from the toilet tank. It goes back down
to hold the water in the tank. However, if the
flapper is worn out or old, it wont go all the
way down, preventing the water to stay in the
bowl. This makes the water leak from the tank and
doesnt leave enough water in the bowl which is
why you need to flush repeatedly. The best is to
call your local plumber to replace the flapper
with a new one as soon as possible to prevent
    further water leakage.

5
Hard water buildup
  • Sometimes, hard water buildup in the toilet bowl
can pull down the water flow in the tank. The
build of minerals like magnesium often obstruct
the flow of water to the tank. This prevents full
volume and pressure of the water into the bowl
from the tank and thus creates flushing problems.
To unclog the toilet from buildup, you may need
to insert a wire manually. This can be tricky and
its best not to do it yourself but hire a
    professional plumber.

6
Insufficient water level
  • Its simple, if all others things are okay, but
there is not enough water in your tank, you wont
be able to flush the toilet. There should be at
least an inch of water above the overflow tube.
If your toilet has a float ball, raise the ball a
little so the water level goes up with it. This
will enable you to flush the toilet without a
    problem.
  • All these plumbing problems are real and
extremely annoying. While you may be frustrated
and want to fix it yourself, its best to get in
touch with a plumbing service company near you. A
professional can do the job efficiently, without
breaking the parts in the tanks. Make sure you
hire a qualified and experienced plumber, you
wouldnt want to handover the job to someone with
poor skills just because they offer cheap
service. Its good to never compromise when it
    comes to plumbing!
