Title: American College Test Practice Questions

1
  • The American College Test (ACT)
  • When applying to colleges, there are various
    factors to consider, including coursework,
location, size and expenses, just to name a few.
However, in order to subside the possibilities,
taking the ACT exam is beneficial, and, in some
cases, required. While this exam can be both
difficult and time consuming, firmness and
preparation are key, and once finished, then you
have better idea which university or college
best for you. Learning more about the ACT, what
it is, the parts involved and how to best
anticipate what to expect is not only crucial for
success, but will also help to optimize your
    results.
  • What is the ACT?
  • The ACT is a national college admissions
examination that consists of subject area tests
    in
  • English
  • Mathematics
  • Reading
  • Science
  • ACT results are accepted by all four-year
colleges and universities in the US.
  • The ACT includes 215 multiple-choice questions
and takes approximately 3 hours and 30 minutes to
complete, including a short break (or just over
four hours if you are taking the ACT with
writing). Actual testing time is 2 hours and 55
minutes (plus 40 minutes if you are taking the
    ACT with writing).
  • Registration
  • Registration can be done in two different ways.
  • Online or via Post. Of course,
  • Online registration is more beneficial and easy.
The only reason if you dont have much time and
you want to pay the fee by the credit card.
General registration of ACT exam in 39.50. The
normal fee for each administration of the test
you register for is 54.50 (without writing). ACT
    exam (plus writing) fee is
  • 56.50. Late students will be charged 25 extra.
  • Dates and Deadlines

throughout in US at various locations. The dates
for the 2015-2016 academic years are follow

Test result are issue approximately in two weeks
after the ACT Test. On the Exams4sure, you can
access much more information about the ACT,
including dates for the academic year 2015-2016,
if you are so inclined. Parts of the Exam The
ACT exam is based on four exams, as well as one
optional writing section. Some schools recommend
taking this optional writing section, while
others do not. It is essential to research the
schools you are interested in and understand the
requirements before signing up for the ACT.
Section Number of Questions Time Allotted
English 75 questions 45 minutes
Mathematics 60 questions 60 minutes
Reading 40 questions 35 minutes
Science 40 questions 35 minutes
Writing (Optional) 1 prompt 30 minutes
With the exception of the Mathematics section,
which offers a five-choice multiple-choice
structure, the other sections are all
four-choice multiple choice. The writing section
is an essay prompt, and therefore does not
include multiple choice style answers. Question
Content So, what is the ACT really and what kind
of skills are required? The required skills vary
according to section. English The first
section is the 45-minute English test covering
usage/mechanics and rhetorical skills. The 75-
Exam Question test consists of five passages with
various sections underlined on one side of the
page and options to correct the underlined
portions on the other side of the page. More
specifically, questions focus on usage and
mechanics issues such as commas, apostrophes,
(misplaced/dangling) modifiers, colons, and
fragments and run-ons as well as on rhetorical
skills style (clarity and brevity), strategy,
transitions, and organization (sentences in a
paragraph and paragraphs in a passage).
3
Mathematics The second section is the
60-minute, 60-question mathematics test with 14
covering pre-algebra, 10 elementary algebras, 9
intermediate algebras, 14 plane geometry, 9
coordinate geometry, and 4 elementary
trigonometry questions. Calculators are permitted
in this section only. The calculator
requirements are stricter than the SAT's in that
computer algebra systems (such as the TI-89) are
not allowed however, the ACT permits calculators
with paper tapes, that make noise (but must be
disabled), or that have power cords with certain
"modifications" (i.e., disabling the mentioned
features), which the SAT does not allow. Standard
graphing calculators, such as the TI-83 and
TI-84 family, are allowed. Also, this is the only
section that has five instead of four answer
choices. Pass your ACT Mathematics Exam by the

reading section consists of four ten-question
passages, from the realm of prose fiction, social
science, humanities, and natural science. The
student gets 35 minutes to take this
test. Science The science reasoning test is a
35-minute, 40-question test. There are seven
passages each followed by five to seven
questions. The passages have three different
formats Data Representation, Research Summary,
and Conflicting Viewpoints. While the format used
to be very predictable (i.e. there were always
three Data Representation passages with 5
questions following each, 3 Research Summary
passages with six questions each, and one
Conflicting Viewpoints passage with 7
questions), when the number of passages was
reduced from 7 to 6, more variability in the
number of each passage type started to appear.
But so far, there is still always only one
Conflicting Viewpoints passage. These changes are
very recent and so the only reference to them so
far is in the recently released practice test on
the Act Dumps Writing The optional writing
section, which is always administered at the end
of the test, is 40 minutes long (increasing from
the original 30-minute time limit on the
September 2015 test). Essays must be in response
to a given prompt. The prompts are about broad
social issues (changing from the old prompts
which were directly applicable to teenagers) and
students must analyze three different
perspectives given, and show how their opinion
relates to these perspectives. The essay does
not affect the composite score or the English
section score Preparing for Success There are
two components necessary for a better result of
the ACT exam Flexibility and practice.
4
  • Flexibility
  • A little goes a long way when preparing for this
type of an exam. While it can be exhausting both
physically and mentally, just like training for a
race, it is necessary to be consistent and build
up your stamina. For example, studying and doing
practice exams for an hour each day, rather than
spending five hours in one day, is much
preferred. This way, you will become more
familiar with the test and the more comfortable
you feel with the exam, the better.
  • Practice
  • The expression practice makes perfect
definitely applies here. While your exam grades
may not be exactly perfect, what is most
essential is improvement. We provide you a
practice test software for your practice. You
can use it in two different modes. Practice Test
Mode or Real Exam Mode. Practice mode allows you
to practice your exam more helpful and handy.
Short quizzes and multiple questions helps you
understand and enhance your abilities. Real Exam
Mode gives you real exam criteria so you can feel
the you sit in real exam. It will provide you
different questions papers just like the real
    exam.
