For any wiring job it is best if you hire a
reputable Electrician Sherman Oaks as they will
use the right components for the job and know all
of the applicable electrical codes.  It is not a
job that a homeowner should undertake.  In
fact, many insurance companies that insure homes
require that a skilled electrician do these types
of jobs in order to keep their homeowners
insurance.  Most geographical areas in the United
States have some type of electrical codes.
3
These are a set of standardized recommendations
for equipment, electrical wiring, and other
related issues.  The ones used in the United
States is the National Electrical Code, which
sets the guidelines, which are followed by the
electrical contractors to make sure that the
electrical systems are safe, easy to work on, and
standardized.  This document is updated and
revised every three years in order to reflect
information and changing practices in the field.

These electrical codes is what defines the
minimum requirements for electrical work and when
you make sure that the installation complies with
all these codes it will help to make sure that
the wiring in the basement will not detract from
your homes value or need to be redone.  When you
wire your basement there are often times a number
of components that are being installed that must
all work together safely and properly.
5
Some of the components in the installation of
basement wiring can include electrical outlets,
circuit breakers, and wire.  Most of the time
there is a specific size of wire that is required
with a certain size of circuit breaker.  For
example, if the circuit is getting the power from
a twenty-amp circuit breaker the wiring will need
to be twelve gauge or bigger.  The circuit
breaker must also fit properly into and be
compatible with the circuit breaker panel that is
being used.
6
If they are a qualified electricians Los Angeles
they will have kept up to date with all of the
changes and know that the basic rules that apply
to any electrical installations.  All of the
codes define what type of work has to be
supervised or performed by a licensed individual
and which jobs do not require these things.
Although you should hire a professional
electrical contractor to do the basement wiring
there are certain things that you as a homeowner
can do but what that work is will depend on each
location.
7
A major concern with any electrical installation
is safety.  The electrician Glendale will make
sure that the power to a circuit is disconnected
before they do any work.  They should also make
sure that they are using a device that will not
let the power to be reapplied accidentally.  One
such device is called a circuit breaker lockout.
