Early Warning Signs of Parkinson's
  • Parkinsons disease is a neurological condition
that belongs to the movement disorders. It is
often difficult to diagnose, as there is not one
test that gives a doctor all the answer. Like so
many diseases, Parkinson's requires ruling out
other conditions to come up with a final
diagnosis. Typically, the person suffering from
this condition may feel some changes and new
limitations, but they don't always know or see
what is really going on. Oftentimes, it is the
family who truly sees the symptoms and can be
most helpful in telling a doctor what's happening.

3
Shaking or Tremors
  • The tremors associated with Parkinson's are
undeniable. It usually begins as a finger that
won't start shaking and then progress to the full
hand. The tremors making doing any type of steady
work difficult. In the later stages, the tongue
and head will shake making it difficult to do
    many tasks.

4
Walking Issues
  • Walking will eventually be a shuffle as they
person can no longer pick up their legs to walk
adequately across the floor. Because the areas
that cause this condition are also affecting
    movement, walking becomes increasingly difficult.
The arms will cease to swing as a person walks,
and they may find that they have trouble stopping
or turning to go in another direction.

5
Tension in the Muscles
  • The muscles will become stiff and rigid when the
disease is present. Some explain the feeling as
that of arthritis but worse. These tense muscles
will make moving difficult. Tasks like getting up
off the couch will be hard, as are the other
    daily tasks.

6
Depression and Anxiety
  • Due to all the changes in the body, it is not
uncommon for there to be some depression and
anxiety. The depression can be quite severe as
this is a brain issue. There are medications that
will help to control these symptoms, but even the
    medications for Parkinson's Disease increase
dopamine levels that can also help.

7
Dizziness/Balance Issues
  • With so many changes going on inside the brain,
dizziness just seems to be something that is
expected. The dizziness may be constant and
debilitating, or it may be intermittent. Some
medications can help with this problem, but it is
likely a problem that will plague the one
suffering throughout the course of the
disease. If you recognize any of these symptoms
in you or a loved one, it's best to get help. The
sooner treatment can be started, the more
    manageable the condition can be.
