Daniel Chammas A Major Problem for Nonprofits
In the state of California is misclassification
errors concerning their employees. There are
heavy fines that come with wrongly or willfully
misclassifying your employees, which can increase
in the event of an ongoing issue or pattern. How
you classify your employees as a business,
nonprofit or not, determines what taxes you pay
as a business entity, and how much those taxes
are.

Daniel Chammas One Common Issue for Nonprofits
One common issue with the classification of
employees by nonprofits is that some typically
classify salaried employees as exempt. This isnt
always the case with salaried employees, and
there are a number of tests to administer in
order to determine which employees are exempt,
and which ones are not. Again, there are tests to
administer in order to determine who is exempt
and who isnt, which can change based on the
status of the employee working for the
organization.

4
Daniel Chammas Another Major Issue with
Classification
Major issue with classification comes from
claiming any employee that works with computers
is a computer professional. There are certain
requirements that have to be met by an employee
before he or she can be classified as an exempt
computer professional by the organization. Make
sure you understand the rules and regulations
before claiming an employee as an exempt computer
professional.
