Brushing Twice a Day Use a soft bristled tooth
brush to brush your teeth twice a day. Use
fluoridated toothpaste recommended by the dentist
and brush to and fro, up and down in short
strokes. Brush the front and back of the teeth
along with chewing surfaces.
3
Floss Regularly Remove the food particles and
build up plaque from the space between your
teeth. Ignoring these spaces and small food
particles with the belief that this wont cause
trouble to your teeth as they are tiny, is a
wrong decision as they are ideal place for
bacterial growth. This leads to tooth decay and
flossing prevents the deposition and possible
bacterial growth.
4
Seeing the Dentist Regularly Regular dental
check-ups and routine dental cleaning done by a
dentist is a must. In case of inefficient plaque
cleaning, the plaque that is left and not cleaned
properly can harden to create tartar. This is
difficult to remove with brushing and flossing
and requires special tools. Visiting dentist will
remove plaque, tartar and offer shiny, clean
teeth. Undiscovered oral issues can be identified
and properly treated, preventing no further major
dental problem.
5
Get Sealants Have the chewing surface of your
rear teeth coated with the thin plastic coating
called sealants. This protects the crevices and
grooves in premolars and molars from plaque
build-up, caused by food particles. It is
inexpensive and is easy to be applied. Sealants
are exceptionally useful for children and
teenagers.
6
Eat Food that Prevents Cavity Calcium rich
dairy products, nuts, leafy greens, whole grains
and fibrous foods that keep the saliva flowing in
mouth, are the best answer to how to prevent
tooth decay. Saliva washes harmful acids released
by food particles and works as a natural tooth
re-mineralizer.
7
Avoid Eating Snacks Frequently Frequent
indulgence in snacks can increase the acid
attacks in an extent that saliva cannot keep up
with. Teeth exposure to food acids and sugars can
lead to enamel loss create dental holes and
cavities. Reduce long consumption hours like
sipping soda and munching chips for longs and
switch to less sugary foods for a quick snacking
time.
8
Avoid harmful food Thin teeth enamel can cause
tooth cavities. Tomatoes, vinegars and citrus
fruits, drinks like coffee or wine, even pasta
sauce or chewing candies and other sugary foods
can have high acid content that thin down enamel.
Switch to normal water that maintains the pH
balance of teeth.
9
Chew Xylitol rich Sugar-free Gum Xylitol
prevents tooth decay and maintains oral health.
Chewing gums can stimulate saliva production.
Saliva defends the teeth from food debris.
Chewing sugar-free, and Xylitol rich gums are
very helpful for maintaining oral health and
prevent tooth decay.
