Fluoride is one of those developments that
promise to lower dental disease. It was
introduced here and is commonly used throughout
the United States, but is only one of a very few
of developed countries that include fluoride in
the drinking water that people consume. At the
same time, many people have noticed that the
tooth decay rates are not any less than those
countries that do not put fluoride into their
water.
3
Reason For Tooth Decay
Overall, in the United States there has been a
large decline in tooth decay over the last 60
years. The reason for this concern is because
fluoride has been known to affect many tissues in
the body besides the teeth. There is great
information out there that covers the effects and
the toxic state of fluoride in many parts of the
body. The big issue is the amount of fluoride
that is in the water. That is because fluoride is
an element that exist naturally in nearly all
water supplies.
4
Risks Involved
Some of the health risks that have been
attributed to fluoride consumption include
dementia, arthritis, muscle disorders, thyroid
disease, a disrupted immune system, risk of
cancer, lowered thyroid function and many other
significant illnesses.

Laura Deleruyelle
For long time family nurse practitioner and
internal health care expert Dr. Laura
Deleruyelle, her position is that the addition of
fluoride into our diets through our water supply
holds more risk than benefits. It thus should be
minimized by drinking pure water where most
contaminants have been removed through reverse
osmosis if possible.
