  • Tata Motors is one of the pioneers in the Indian
automobile industry. Although the maker was
mainly into the manufacturing of heavy vehicles
in the earlier days, it had diversified into
passenger car market as well. One of the
best-loved brands in India, Tata has given some
of the popular cars like Indica, Nano and Safari
among others. Although these cars enjoyed great
popularity, many people were uninspired by the
drab looks of these cars. Tata decided to address
this issue with its new models. When the Zest was
introduced few months ago, it attracted the
    attention of the onlookers immediately.

AutoPortal Cars In India
  • The car was unveiled at the 2014 Indian Auto
Expo. It is the first car to promote the 'Design
Next, Drive Next, Connect Next' philosophy
adopted by Tata for its new breed of cars.
Another addition to one of the most competitive
segments of the Indian car industry, the sub-four
meter segment, the Zest is available in both
petrol and diesel engines. Additionally, a diesel
variant equipped with advanced F-Tronic AMT
transmission gearbox is also in the offing.

  • The price of Tata Zest varies from 5.64 lakh
rupees to 6.99 lakh rupees depending on the
variant chosen. Tata has equipped the car with
several first in segment features like projector
headlamps, LED daytime running lights and
signature LED tail lamps with a wraparound look.
The state of the art Electronic Power Assisted
Steering (EPAS) system offers active return and
speed functions to make driving an effortless
exercise. Other desirable features included are
ABS with EBD, cornering stability control
    function, a 5-inch touch-screen, advanced voice
command recognition and surround sound effect
with eight speakers. Features like dual front SRS
airbags, parking sensors and speed sensing
    automatic door locks, ensure safety.

  • An all-new, indigenously developed 1.2-liter
Revotron petrol engine drives the petrol variant
of Zest. This 1193 cc engine with 4 cylinders and
16 valves receives fuel through multipoint
injection system. It can generate a top power of
88.73 bhp at 5000 rpm and a peak torque of 140 Nm
at 1750 to 3500 rpm. It is mated to a five-speed
manual transmission gearbox. The diesel variants
run on a 1.3-liter Quadra jet engine.

and is set in the DOHC configuration. This engine
