2Patrick Rhatigan was appointed as the Chief of
Wing Safety for the 92nd Air Refueling Wing at
Fairchild Air Force Base in Washington. The 92
ARW or 92nd Air Refueling Wing is a US Air Force
unit accredited to the Air Mobility Command 18th
Air Force, and is also the host unit at Fairchild.
3This wing is responsible for providing reliable
as well as rapid passenger and cargo airlift, air
refueling, and aero medical evacuation missions
supporting the United States along with coalition
conventional operations. They are also liable for
the US Strategic Command strategic deterrence
missions.
4The 92nd Air Refueling Wing operates 58 aircrews
and 34 KC-135 R/T Stratotanker refueling aircraft
worth 1.6 billion to support international
military missions. As the host unit to Fairchild
AFB, Washington, the wing controls 1,248
buildings as well as 4,223 acres. It supports the
mission of Air Mobility Command, providing
worldwide reach air power and deploying
expeditionary combat support forces of global
contingency needs.
5Patrick Rhatigan explains that the wing employs
more than 2,200 active duty military and
approximately 700 civilian employees. The 92nd
Air Refueling Wing is proficient at aerial
refueling that enhances the Air Force's
capability of achieving its primary missions of
Global Power and Global Reach.
6It is structured under 4 groups, including
medical, operations, maintenance, as well as
mission support, and 12 staff agencies are
organized under the Director of Staff. 92 OG is
responsible for four flying squadrons, including
the 92d, 93d, 96th, and 97th Air Refueling
Squadrons that fly the KC-135 Stratotanker. It
manages a plethora of functions like weather,
intelligence, aircrew training, tactics, airfield
management, life support, combat crew
communications, current operations, and air
traffic control.
7In 2008, Patrick Rhatigan was appointed as the
93rd Air Refueling Squadron commander at
Fairchild Air Force Base in Washington.
