  also known as a Desk Order Divorce or Uncontested
  Divorce whereby one party makes an application to
  B.C. Supreme Court for divorce.

What is the Sole Application for Divorce Process?

• Step 1 One spouse, the Claimant, files a
  Notice of Family Claim and original marriage
  certificate with the BC Supreme Court registry.
• Step 2 The Claimant then has the Notice of
  Family Claim served on the other spouse. If after
  30 days there is no response from the
  other spouse and the parties have been separated
  for at least one year then the other forms are
  filed with the BC Supreme Court registry asking
  for a Divorce Order. After 31 days from the date
  the Divorce Order is granted and there is no
  appeal filed by the other party, the marriage is
  officially terminated.
