The problem is, its not always easy to do this
task. Removing the cover isnt something that you
do frequently. If its always exposed to water,
it will sooner or later get corroded, thus making
it stick stubbornly to the floor.
4
Theres no need to panic though because with the
help of several tools, youll surely detach the
cover successfully. For this project, youll need
a good lubricant spray, a hammer, a flathead
screwdriver and a wire coat hanger.
5
  • When youre ready, spray some lubricant around
the edges of the floor drain cover. Let the
lubricant sit for approximately 5 to 10 minutes
to loosen up the drain cover.

6
  • If the drain has screws on it, try removing them
as well before proceeding to the next step.

7
  • Once the time is up, get your flathead
screwdriver and insert it into the space between
the rim of the floor drain cover and the floor.
Try to pry the cover off with the screwdriver.
Keep on doing this on all sides until you can
finally lift the drain cover up.

8
  • If you fail at loosening the lid with the
screwdriver, get your wire coat hanger. Thread
the bent end of the hanger through the one of
holes of the cover. Bend the wire so that you can
maneuver it into the hole then move it up and out
    of another hole.

9
  • Twist the ends of the wire to create some sort
of a loop. Make sure that the loop has enough
space to fit your hammers hooks. Youll use it
to tackle and tug the cover.

10
  • Insert the hammers hook end through the loop of
the wire coat hanger. Pull the hammer up to pull
the wire coat in turn. Keep on tugging and
pulling while also spraying some lubricant on the
floor drain cover. Repeat this multiple times
    until you have finally succeeded.
