1
In Vitro Fertilisation
And Their Success Rates In
India
  • In Vitro Fertisation or IVF is a fertilization
process where an egg is manually taken and then
  • combined with the sperm in a laboratory. IVF
success rate is solely based on the womans age.
  • The womans ability to conceive a child reduces
with her age. The lesser the age of the person
  • the higher are the chances of her in having a
child through IVF. Natural cycle IVF is also a
  • form of In Vitro Fertilisation. The IVF
process starts with collecting and fertilising
    the egg
  • released during the normal monthly cycle.
Fertility drugs are never used in this treatment.
  • There is another form of IVF treatment named
mild stimulation IVF. In mild stimulation IVF
  • the woman is given a very low dose of
fertility drugs for a small period. Women with
    top
  • chances of IVF success rates have per-cycle
success rates of 40 whereas most of women
  • have per-cycle success rates of 20-35.

2
  • IVF success rate is determined by many other
factors like age, height, weight, sperm count
  • reproductive history etc. The most important
factor for IVF success rate is because of the
  • woman's age. When the womans age increases,
the IVF success rate lessens, she uses her
  • own eggs. The chances of success through IVF
decreases a lot after the age of 40. Due to
  • this reason, most women above 40 use only
    donor eggs.
  • There are many other factors which also
determine IVF success rate. These factors
  • include various characteristics of the
patient and also various forms of approaches
  • of the treatment procedure. Chemical
pregnancy is also a process which is first
  • confirmed by blood tests or urine tests. In
clinical pregnancy, it is verified through
  • ultrasound. Sometimes miscarriage occurs
even before the pregnancy is first confirmed
  • and sometimes even after a clinical
pregnancy has been verified, miscarriages might
  • occur, but the chances are very less. In
medical procedures, there are lots of risks
  • involved sometimes. The risks of in vitro
fertilization are mostly specific to various
  • steps of the procedure. Age is the
singlemost important factor affecting a woman's
  • chances of conceiving with IVF. The
probability of becoming pregnant begins to
  • lessen after age 35 and it becomes very less
above the age of 41. Even if the probability
  • of positive results are possible for women
who are above the age of 40, the chance of
  • success decreases to a large extent if donor
    eggs are not used.

3
  • IVF takes a significant level of physical,
financial, and emotional commitment on both the
    sex.
  • Psychological and emotional problems are
quite common in cases where IVF is unsuccessful.
  • In cases of damaged fallopian tube the only
procedure which is most likely to help you get
  • pregnant is IVF. If the problem is due to the
male sperm, then ICSI is considered the best
  • form of treatment.
