1. Is the builder well established? Find out when
your builder was established and how many homes
theyve built since. The bottom line here is that
an established builder has extensive buying
power, resources and the know-how to provide
customers with great quality, service and value
for money.

any sales consultant you deal with is HIA

considerations.

4. How will the builder deal with the Prestart
process and help me to choose the right fittings,
fixtures and colours? My advice is to check your
builder has a showroom where you can view all the
products in one place.  This means you wont have
the time consuming process of driving from one
supplier to another to make your selections.
5. What is the build time? If you are building a
single storey home, the entire process will take
around 56 weeks. So dont be fooled by builders
who promise an unrealistic build time!
6. What exactly is included in the price of the
home? Your sales consultant should advise you
what items are and are not included in the
purchase price. Visit display homes and check the
specifications, as often things like floor
covering, electrical items and landscaping are
not included.

7. What steps does the builder take to build a
quality home? A builders quality can be seen in
their display homes and also by researching the
materials and fittings that will be
installed. Its also important to check the
quality of the specifications and also the
warranties offered.  For instance do they have
Lifetime Structural Guarantees or Service
Warranties?
8. Is there someone I can contact if I have any
concerns? Good question and an important one. 
Make sure that your builder outlines the policies
and procedures in place for dealing with any
issues that may arise.
