Earth Movers That Dig in Dirt, Helps to Build
road and Many More
  • Earth Movers Equipment

2
What are Earth Movers
  • Earth movers are devices which are used to dig,
push, and transport earth. Earth movers can be
designed to dig into the earth with scoops,
cutting blades, shovels, and sometimes saw-like
attachments which can be used for trenching and
breaking up very hard soil and rock.
  • They can also push earth around a work site, as
in the case of bulldozers, and be used to carry
earth to other locations, with excavator buckets
being an example of equipment which can be used
    for transport.

3
Different Types of Earth Movers
  • Excavators
  • Cranes
  • Bulldozers
  • Tractors
  • Backhoes
  • Grader
  • dumper truck

4
Excavators
  • An excavator is a construction vehicle used to
dig or move large objects. An excavator is
designed for use on construction sites and is
    quite expensive to purchase.
  • Many smaller construction companies lease or rent
these units to avoid the expensive overhead
costs. The lease and rental rates vary, depending
on the length of the contract, the location, and
the volume of business with the leasing firm.
  • The more equipment
  • that a company leases
  • or rents from the same
  • firm, the better the
  • pricing will be.

5
Cranes
  • A crane is a machine that is capable of raising
and lowering heavy objects and moving them
    horizontally.
  • One of the earliest versions of the crane to be
developed was the shaduf, first used to move
water in Egypt about four thousand years ago.

6
Bulldozers
  • A bulldozer is a heavy piece of earthmoving
equipment which uses a front-mounted 'dozer'
blade to push soil forward and create a level
    surface for construction sites.
  • Technically, the word only applies to the front
    dozer blade, not
  • the entire machine. Some

sources suggest that the power and noise of the
chassis suggested a restrained bull, while others
point to the extreme medical practice of
bull-dosing.
7
Tractors
  • A tractor is a piece of heavy machinery that is
designed to carry out some type of work. The type
of work this equipment can do depends on its
size, the type of attachments it has or can
support, and the type of tasks it is designed to
    accomplish.
  • There are many enthusiasts who collect and
restore antique tractors, participate in clubs,
and hobbyists who collect or build models. Many

people even use their machines to participate in
recreational sports such as tractor races and
tractor pulling.
8
Backhoes
  • A backhoe, also known as a backhoe loader, is a
versatile piece of heavy machinery used primarily
for digging trenches and ditches on construction
    sites
  • Many construction companies consider the backhoe
to be the workhorse of earthmovers. It is often
the only piece of heavy equipment brought onto
    small to medium landscaping

projects.
9
Grader
  • A grader, also commonly referred to as a road
grader, a blade, a maintainer, or a motor grader,
is a construction machine with a long blade used
to create a flat surface during the grading
    process
  • Graders can produce inclined surfaces, to give
cant (camber) to roads. In some countries they
are used to produce drainage ditches with shallow

V-shaped cross-sections on either side of
highways.
10
Dumper Truck
  • On most construction sites, materials such as
gravel, sand and fill dirt must be brought in,
while waste materials such as old bricks and
excavated dirt must be carried out.
  • The bulk of this work is performed with
specialized vehicles called dump trucks. Dump
trucks can be as small as a standard passenger
truck or as large as an 18-wheeler.

Earth Movers
12
Uses
  • Utilized on construction sites and in mines
  • Used for agricultural purposes
  • Used in excavation, in manufacturing sites
  • Faster way to perform major landscaping or
    repairs on underground pipes
  • Construction and maintenance of dirt roads and
    gravel roads
