What are the different types of advertising media?

• Selection of the media outlet through which an ad
  will be presented has important implications for
  the success of a promotion. Each outlet possesses
  unique characteristics, though not all outlets
  are equally efficient for all advertisers. 
  Therefore, choosing the right media can be a time
  consuming operation requiring the marketer to
  balance the pros and cons of each choice. While
  only a few years ago marketers needed to be aware
  of only a few media outlets, todays marketers
  must be well-versed in a broad range of media
  choices. The cause for the uprising number of
  media outlets lays with advances in communication
  technology, in particular, the Internet.  The
