Introduction

• WordPress is a Content Management System (CMS)
  based on PHP and MySQL. It's a free and open
  source blogging tool.
• Its started in 2003 with a single bit of code to
  enhance the typography of everyday writing and
  with fewer users than you can count on your
  fingers and toes.
• Since then it has grown to be the largest
  self-hosted blogging tool in the world, used on

History

• b2/cafelog was the predecessor to WordPress. As
  of May 2003, around 2000 blogs make use of
  b2/cafelog. b2/cafelog was written in PHP for use
  with MySQL by Michel Valdrighi, who is one of the
  developer of WordPress.
• In spite the fact that Worpress is a great
  surrogate, there is another project , b2evolution
  is also in active development.
• It was 2003, when Worpress first appeared with
  the joint efforts of Matt Mullenweg and Mike
  Little.
• In October 2009, WordPress announced as open
  source CMS.
