Murata Machinery USA, Inc. to Introduce New
Turning Machines at IMTS 2014
(1888 PressRelease) Murata Machinery USA will
introduce new automated turning machines,
including the MW80GT and MW120GTEX, and a new
version of its ML400 machine, the ML400L, at IMTS
2014. Charlotte-Gastonia-Rock Hill, NC-SC -
Murata Machinery USA, Inc., one of the leading
manufacturers of high volume CNC production
machinery for industry, will introduce two new
Muratec turning machines, the MW80GT and
MW120GTEX, and a new version of its ML400
machine, the ML400L, at IMTS 2014. Those
attending IMTS 2014 from September 8-13, 2014, at
McCormick Place in Chicago, IL, can see these new
turning machines in action for the first time at
Booth S-8844. "Muratec is excited to
demonstrate what these new turning machines can
do at IMTS 2014," said Steve Landrum, North
American Sales Manager of Murata Machinery USA's
Turning business unit. "They continue to build on
Muratec's reputation for producing reliable
automated turning centers and expand their
capabilities for precision, high-speed
performance. The new MW120GTEX is a
high-accuracy redesign of one of Muratec's most
popular machines, the MW120GT twin-spindle CNC
chucker. The new turning center features a
high-accuracy spindle for tight tolerance
requirements. The location of the Z-axis
ballscrew is centered to improve accuracy and an
X-axis box guideway gives the machine added
rigidity. Its two-piece turret coupling also
provides greater accuracy, while its twin
independent gantries deliver rapid throughput.

The other new turning machine, the MW80GT
high-speed, 6000-rpm dual spindle, is engineered
to produce high-speed parts that are 80 mm in
diameter and 50 mm in length, with a wide gang
tool platform that gives it more versatility. It
has an X-axis stroke of 320 mm and a Z-axis
stroke of 200 mm and the same gantry speed as the
MW50GT, with a variety of feed and output systems
designed and built by Murata Machinery USA. The
ML400L is a longer version of the ML400, which
extends its part capability to 200 mm in diameter
x 570 mm in length. Upper and lower turrets with
roller support are offered on the ML400L, which
also features an MT5 tailstock center with a
live-tool option for small secondary
holes. Muratec will also be showing its most
popular size machine, the MD200G, at IMTS 2014.
The MD200G features 30 hp, 2400 rpm, dual
spindles for rugged cutting capability with 250
mm chucks and a 5 hp, 3000 rpm, live tool
capability. Its centralized Fanuc 31 Control
provides both machine operation and smart, 3-axis
gantry control. A 2 x 8 kg gantry handling
capability also comes standard on the MD200G.
Murata Machinery USA, Inc.'s Machine Tool
Turning business unit supplies reliable, twin-
and single-spindle automated turning centers
under its Muratec brand. These machines feature
innovative technology and compact designs for
high productivity and intelligent gantry-loader
material handling. Users of Muratec's automated
CNC lathes include automotive engineering,
bearing manufacturing, valves and fittings, oil
and gas as well as other industries that depend
on precision, high-speed turning centers. All
Muratec CNC turning centers incorporate
environmentally friendly, semi-dry cutting
features to reduce dust, oil mist and odor for a
safer work environment. For more information on
