INTRODUCTION

• Our immune system is a system of biological
  structures and processes within an organism that
  protects us against various ailments.
• Allergens are the substances that are foreign to
  the body and can cause an allergic reaction.
• Severity of allergy varies from person to person
  and can range from minor irritation to life

INTRODUCTION

• In case of allergies, when we come in contact
  with allergen, our defence mechanisms reaction
  can inflame sinuses, airways, skin etc because
  antibodies that identify a particular allergen as
  harmful for the body.
• Allergy involves an exaggerated response of the
  immune system to certain foreign substances such
  as food or pollen (Allergy producing substances).

• Different Parts of the body, prone to develop
  symptoms of allergy may include Eyes, Nose,
  Lungs, Skin and Digestive System
• Allergic rhinitis or hay fever Itchy runny or
  stuffy nose, itchy watery swollen eyes, and
  congestion.
• Asthma Wheezing, shortness of breath, constant
  cough, congestion in the chest.
• Conjunctivitis Redness of eyes with inflammation
  and watery discharge.
• Drug allergy Itchy skin with swelling, rashes,
  hives, and anaphylaxis

• Food allergy Swelling of the the lips,
  difficulty in swallowing, inflammation of tongue,
  throat, diarrhea or constipation, hives, and
  anaphylaxis.
• Atopic dermatitis / Eczema - An allergic skin
  condition Red, itchy or dry inflammatory skin
  with peeling or flaking of the skin sometimes.
• Urticaria or hives Raised red welts with severe
  itchiness
• Insect sting allergy Edema at the local site,
  itching, cough, chest tightness, wheezing etc.

CAUSES OF THE ALLERGY
There are numerous allergens that can trigger
allergies, but some of the most common include

• Airborne allergens Pollen, dust mites, mold,
  animal dander.
• Specific food items Peanuts, wheat, soy, eggs,
  sour substances, milk, curd, banana etc.
• Insect Bee stings or insects bites.
• Medications Penicillin or penicillin
  antibiotics.

• Aama (endo toxins due to undigested food) and low
  vyadhi kshamata ( low immunity) are the two main
  reasons for different type of allergies according
  to Ayurveda.

• Pitta Allergy Red and inflamed eyes, inflamed
  itchy nose, burning sensation, fever etc.
• Kapha Allergy Heaviness of head, laziness,
  swollen eyes, stuffed nose with plenty of thick
  mucus discharge, drowsiness etc.
• Vata Allergy- Hoarse and dry throat that is
  painful, dryness of nose, eyes and sinuses too,
  dry cough, dry and rough skin etc.
