Which Toothpaste is Right For You?
2
All Natural Toothpaste
Toothpastes containing all natural ingredients
can be just as effective as anti-microbial
toothpastes. Toms of Main is a great all natural
toothpaste that contains the ADA seal of approval.
3
Whitening Toothpaste
Whitening toothpastes are more popular than ever.
They contain mild abrasives that help polish
teeth and prevent the buildup of additional
stains. However, they arent really helpful when
it comes to getting rid of older discolorations.
When looking for a whitening toothpaste, look for
pastes or gels that contain modified silicone
abrasives. Brands such as Rembrandt and Crest
have great whitening toothpaste options. If you
dont see any changes in your teeth after about a
month, talk to your dentist.
4
Cavity Fighting Toothpaste
Everyday your teeth are exposed to harmful
bacteria that can cause plaque buildup if you
dont practice the proper dental hygiene. When
this harmful bacteria eats away at your teeth, it
can cause cavities. When looking for toothpastes
that help fight against cavities, look for ones
that contain the mineral fluoride. Fluoride coats
and protects teeth from cavity-causing acids.
5
Toothpaste For Sensitive Teeth or Gums
If your dentist has ruled out cavities or gum
disease, you may be brushing your teeth too hard,
or have sensitive teeth and gums. When looking
for a toothpaste for sensitive teeth or gums, opt
for one containing a desensitizing ingredient
such as strontium chloride or potassium nitrate.
A great brand for sensitive teeth and gums is
Sensodyne toothpaste.
6
Tartar Prevention Toothpaste
Tartar buildup comes from plaque that has
hardened. Once tartar builds up on your teeth,
the only way to remove it is by going to your
dentist and having them pick away at it. However,
there are toothpastes that help prevent the
buildup of tartar. If you need a tartar-fighting
toothpaste, look for toothpastes containing zinc
citrate or pyrophosphates. Crest Tartar
Protection is an ADA approved toothpaste.
