 Benefits of Root Canal
  • It doesnt affect the chewing and biting of food
  • The teeth are not at all affected and hence one
can put normal biting force on it
  • It gives a look like natural teeth and hence it
    has natural appearance
  • Doesnt affect the teeth nearby and protects them
    from excessive strain
  • Root canal gives a relief and comfort from all
the pain that can be there due to excessive
    toothache.

6
Benefits of Root Canal
  • Root canal is a procedure that saves a tooth from
being extracted due to some pain etc. It is an
alternate for tooth extraction, so one will not
lose his/her tooth and can use the tooth without
any problem like a normal one.
  • Root canal is comparatively less expensive than
prosthesis, that can be done for a lost tooth.

7
Disadvantages of Root Canal
  • The tooth on which the root canal is done will
not be vital after the process and it will
become delicate that is prone to fractures but it
can be made resistant with porcelain crown on
    tooth.
  • It is comparatively more expensive than tooth
    extraction.
  • It is more difficult and complicated than tooth
    extraction.

8
Steps of Root Canal Procedure-
  • X-Ray for checking condition of tooth and
    infection
  • Test for sensitivity Local anaesthesia is given
  • Place rubber dam around to keep area dry and
    Opening is made into tooth
  • Clean pulp chamber and root canals and prepare
    for filling.
  • To protect the tooth, temporary filling is placed
    in crown opening
  • Pulp chamber and root canal is filled
    permanently. Tooth sealed with gutta-percha
  • Crown is placed over tooth to give a natural
    shape and appearance
