Women and Shoes - An Eternal LoveStory with a
Factual Twist
Last week, I bought three new pairs of stylish
shoes and again I am all set for another
shoppingspree (not to mention that shoes are
certainly on the top of my shopping list)! Well
being awoman I have no hesitation in admitting
that yes, Im a shoe-crazy chic. However, my
longcredit card statements have forced me to
think, why are we women so mad about shoes? I
havebeen scratching my head on what makes us
fall for footwear? Another very
femininecharacteristic that I have is, when I
need to know anything, I need to know it right
now. Thistrait made me come across various
scientific and psychological facts associated
with womenslove and lust for shoes. I am sure
you would also want to know them, so keep
reading.
A hard to leave addiction
Ok, so here comes something that we all know,
buying shoes gives a sense of satisfaction
andpleasure. Women find shoes as a collectible
item and thus, irrespective of the fact that
theirshelves are over-flooded with footwear,
they never miss a chance to add some more. Even
if itsstylish casual sandals, if they like
them, they buy them. You must be thinking whats
new in it?The point to consider here is that
while women shop for shoes, their dopamine (a
2
neurotransmitter) is released. As soon as the
dopamine is released, they feel high.
Generallypeople consume drugs to feel high, but
in a womans case buying shoes does the same
effect.Trust me, Im not just shooting the
breeze, this dopamine related fact has been given
by MartinLindstrom, the author of Buyology
Truth and Lies about Why We Buy, and a branding
expert forFortune 100 companies.
Heels - A sense of superiority
Height means power, this is what we all
believe if not in our conscious, then
subconsciousmind. This very belief makes women
fall for high heels. Even if it hurts, we love to
wear highheels because it adds to our height and
thus, we feel superior. Moreover, in the bygone
era it wasonly the rich or upper class people
who used to wear heels, and the rest of the
masses used tocover their feet with something
very flat and causal. This makes it clear that
high heeledwomens shoes(http//www.spartoo.co.uk
/shoes-women.php) were always connected with
class,status and power.
An added sexual appeal
Every woman wants to look hotter than hell, and
the shoes help us in attaining this look.
Withheels like stilettos, a womans butt is
lifted and back is arched, making a perfect
mating posecalled lordosis. Yet again, its not
something I wrote randomly these are actually
some wisewords by Helen Fisher, professor of
anthropology at Rutgers University. Though we
alwaysknew that a perfect high heel shoe adds a
charm to our beauty, but we didnt exactly
how.Fortunately now you know it.
My basic idea behind writing this piece of
content was to justify my spending on the shoes.
Well, that very motive is achieved. In fact, now
I even have more concrete reasons for buying
shoesthat I like, love and crave for. So the
next time whenever your husband, boyfriend,
father or anyother male questions you on why do
you go crazy for the shoes, tell them its
natural, itssomething related to human
behaviour. Or else the best way to answer them is
to make them readthis article and till the time
they read, you go and get your true love, to be
precise those stylishcausal sandals or whichever
womens shoes that you always wanted.
