Conclusions
  • Hydrophobic acrylic IOLs (AcrySof) have
    significantly more LECs in the early post-op
    period.
  • Hydrophobic acrylic IOLs (AcrySof) have
    significantly more giant cells in the late
    post-op period.
  • Hydrophilic acrylic IOLs (Akreos) has less small
    cells in the early post-op period (ns).

Hydrophilic acrylic lenses may have superior
biocompatibility compared to hydrophobic acrylic
lenses.
