Title: CHICAGO:

1
CHICAGO
  • A Tale of Redemption

2
The Wonder Years
  • Once upon a time, there was a young boy named
Chicago. Born on a blue day in July, Chicago had
a rough going from the start. He had no friends
at Lil Citation Daycare and while everyone
else snuggled cozy on their thin blue mats for
nap time, Chicago had to contend with the
unbearable lightness of his own being.

4
Summer Camp
  • At summer citation camp, Chicago still couldnt
fit in. Chicago was always picked last for the
    inter-camp kickball championships. Chicagos
    competition was fierce.

5
APA
  • There was APA brawny and chiseled, with an
eyebrow that circled his face like a halo of
    masculinity.

6
MLA
  • Then there was MLA suave, sophisticated, and his
hair slicked back into a perfect helmet of
man-candy. It was documented gossip in the camp
that MLA bathed fortnightly in full baths of
    organic extra virgin olive oil.

7
CHICAGO
  • And of course, poor Chicago. Much like his
namesakes deep dish pizza, he was thick, dense,
    and cheesy.

8
Picking Teams
  • The day before the big game, the captains chose
teams. Though Chicago was present, he was
overshadowed by the hulking masses known as APA
    and MLA.

9
Always Picked Last
  • The first captain said, We select APA! Hes
kickin like Jung and Freud, yo!
  • The second captain said, We choose MLA because
he knows his way around the bases like
    Shakespeare around a sonnet.
  • And the final captain said, We selectactually,
    were good here.

Poor Chicago
  • What about Chicago? a voice called from the
    crowd.
  • Wed rather play a man down, the captain
proclaimed. Besides, what is Chicago good for
    anyway?

12
  • And then Chicago snapped.

Tears
  • Chicago ran to hide behind the counselors cabin
where no one would see his bitter tears of shame.
Chicago heard a gentle voice call softly from
    the shadows.
  • Chicago? Are you alright? Her voice plumbed
the depths of his tired, shattered soul.

15
Georgia
  • Who are you? he asked through a wet sniffle.
  • My name is Georgia and I really like flowers.
  • You shouldnt be here, Chicago replied. Im
    useless.
  • Thats not true, said Georgia.

Purpose
  • All of us artists and philosophers have always
    found you indispensable, Georgia said.
  • Really?
  • Yes, Chicago. Really. And then Georgia
whispered in a voice sweeter than her most
    beloved flower

18
  • You complete me.

19
  • Chicago, through the knot in his throat and the
tears in his eyes, responded You had me at
    Chicago.
