Team Captains Role in Safety
  • Assign a Safety Coordinator
  • Promote Safety within your team
  • Include Safety Notes in Team emails
  • Start group rides with Safety review
  • Use the BP MS150 web site tools
  • Identify Safety concerns and share with team
  • Remember Actions mean more than Words!!
  • Obey traffic laws
  • Correct unsafe habits of team members
  • Practice what you preach riders follow
  • the actions of the Team Captain

Ride Marshals- Who Are Ya?
  • Ride Marshals (RMs) are experienced,
    registered fundraising riders who act as good
    will and safety ambassadors for the MS Society.
  • RMs support all 21 spring 2007 Recommended
    Rides and will have liaisons appointed to each
    Ride.
  • 2006 Review 126 RMs supporting 60 teams

Ride Marshals- Requirements
  • Minimum requirements include
  • Be passionate and knowledgeable about safe
    cycling
  • Completed 2 Houston to Austin MS150s
  • CPR/First Aid certified
  • Able to support 2 Spring Recommended Rides
  • Completed a hands on safety skills course (3
    hr min)
  • Co-Chairs Barron Lozano and Amy Moore

  • Deadline to sign up is January 14, 2007.
  • New online registration for Ride Marshal program
    coming soon!

RMs required for Safety Award
  • Teams with 25 members or more require a Ride
    Marshal on their team
  • Teams larger than 50 members require 1 RM per
    50 riders
  • While not required, a RM makes a great Safety
    Liaison for your Team
