• IREFREA Italy has carried out research, organised
  seminars, trainings and conferences, published
  information material and took part in scientific
  debates on therapeutic approaches to women with
  drug misuse problems.

  réaliser des investigations et disséminer des
  informations sur les problèmes des jeunes, la
  prévention de lusage des drogues et dautres
  activées liées à la réduction de la demande des
  drogues.

  cours de formation et des conférences, a publié
  du matériel informatif et a participé à des
  débats scientifiques sur les approches
  thérapeutiques du travail avec les femmes qui ont

Why focusing on women with a drug misuse
problem?Pourquoi avoir choisi le travail avec
les femmes usagères de drogues?

• Girls and women use substances for reasons
  different than men and are more vulnerable to
  abuse and addiction
• Women face unique stigmatization and
  discrimination in their ability to obtain drug
  treatment
• Until recently drug treatment was largely
  designed upon mens needs
• Women's use of and relationship to drugs - and
  therefore the way in which help, support and care
  needs to be offered to them - is often affected
  by their experiences with domestic violence,
  their responsibilities for family and children,
  their economic and employment status

Why should the cities focus on women with a drug
misuse problem? Pourquoi les villes
doivent-elles se concentrer sur le travail avec
les femmes usagers de drogues?

• EU Drugs Strategy 2005-2012 and Action Plan
  2005-2008
• Partnership between key actors (local
  authorities, professionals, social and health
  services, NGOs, self-help groups etc.) can be
  effectively created and fostered only at local
  level
• Funding for specific initiatives addressing women
  needs can be provided at a local level
• Negative consequences of not addressing the
  problem of drug misuse in women has important
  implications into the families, the community,
  the social, health and economic conditions of
  women and their relatives, therefore on the cities

  research and good practice at European level on
  the development of local drug policies which are
  appropriate in addressing the specific needs of
  women with drug misuse problems.

• Transfert dexpériences et apprentissage de la

  niveau Européen sur le développement de
  politiques locales sur la drogue qui visent de
  façon appropriée les besoins spécifiques de
  femmes toxicomanes

How we will do it
Comment on travaillera

• Cities representatives will be involved
• in the collection and analysis of data on
  existing local policies and services for women
  drug users in their cities,
• in sharing good practices they might be aware of
  in this field and
• in contributing and benefit from the development
  of guidelines for integrated assistance of women
  drug users.

• Les villes seront invitées
• à participer à une collecte et analyse de
  données sur les politiques et les services locaux
  pour les femmes toxicomanes,
• à échanger sur les bonnes pratiques existantes au
  niveau des villes dans ce domaine et
• à contribuer et bénéficier de la préparation de
  lignes directrices pour lassistance intégrée au
  femmes toxicomanes.
