Dear Friends, August 10,
2006 Hello everyone! We have been so busy
these last few months. We had two groups of
volunteers from the United States come to
Paraguay to extend their expert service to the
people of Paraguay. Laura and I accompanied the
groups providing medical assistance and
translation. First, during the last week in June
we had the Baptist Missionaries from Texas come
to Paraguay. This Missionary Group consisted of
medical health professionals and staff. Each day
they traveled to various locations, one being our
clinic, providing medical services to those in
need. Secondly, the first week in July we had a
group from VOSH Kentucky (Volunteer Optometric
Services to Humanity) provide optometric services
at the Centro Medico Bautista Hospital in
Asuncion. We had students and teachers from the
local school (Asuncion Christian Academy)
volunteer and Peace Corp Volunteers working as
translators for our guests. What successful
visits these two groups had providing a variety
of medical services for over 6,000 patients. In
June we had three surgeons from Asuncion come to
our clinic performing cataract surgery on five
patients in our new operating room. We have five
more patients scheduled for surgery this month.
What a blessing for these people to have their
sight again. In July we received a donation of
much needed equipment, furnishings and computers
from USAID (United States Agency for
International Development). Our Technical
nursing school is off to a good start. We have 14
student in the first year of the three year
program, our target is 15 students per class. I
want to thank all that have donated to the
scholarship fund for our students. We are in need
of classroom and living space for our students.
With the anticipation of a new class starting
next year it will be essential that we build a
complete second floor of the clinic for our
students living and educational needs. On August
8th the foundation received a donation of five
desktop computers from Interconnection for our
nursing school. Also in the planning stages is
a daycare and mobile clinic, more on this in the
near future. Thank you to all that have
supported these and all our efforts in working to
provide a healthy future for our community. If
you would like to make a donation to our
foundation please sent a check or money order to
our corporate headquarters in Washington (address
above). Please write me an email or come visit us
at the clinic at your convenience, you are always
welcome. God Bless! Sincerely, Celmira
(Edel)(Ellie) Bay, Director
Foundations History Using their life savings to
start the medical clinic Celmira (Edel) Bay and
her husband Clyde E. Bay founded the Clyde E. Bay
Foundation. The Foundations clinic went into
service 1999 in Paraguay, South America. Clyde
passed away leaving us on May 19, 2003, he gave
his life to service around the world in many
third world countries. He was a former Peace Corp
Volunteer, retired U.S. Federal Civil Servant and
U.S. Army Reserve Colonel retired. Celmira (Nurse
Edel) is a registered nurse, and in August 2005
retired from working for the Peace Corp in
Paraguay. The foundation has grown to a full
service medical health clinic, pharmacy, three
year technical nursing school and continues to
grow. We are incorporated in the United States,
in the State of Washington and a tax exempt
organization under section 501 (c) (3) of the IRS
code approved September 22, 2004.
