This talk describes most of the basic matters of
medical diagnostic ultrasound. The transducer,
the sound field, simulation of the sound fields,
analytical description of the sound field. The
piezo electric effect is also described.
Different fields of planar and focused
transducers are illustrated and Huygens principle
is used to try to understand the sound field and
the mechanism responsible for the sound field.
The pulse-echo principle are described as are the
making of A-mode (with envelope detection),
B-mode and C-mode. The different more advanced
transducers such as linear and phased arrays
