    for Bioinformatics (NCICB)

3
caBIG Year 2
  • Q1 There seems to be a shift in priorities for
the caBIG project. Please explain how projects
are being prioritized by caBIG leadership and
how this prioritization affected the evaluation
    of the recent RFPs?

4
Percentage of Funding by Workspace/Working Group
Year One
Year Two Awards
Total Year 2 Funding Outlays
5
caBIG Year 2
  • Q2(a) What were the RFPs funded in this round,
who received the funding and what are the
budgetary prospects and project priorities for
the remainder of caBIG Year 2, ending February
    28, 2006?
  • And
  • Q2(b) What were the overall number of
development projects funded for Year 2 in each
Workspace? What are they? Who are the designated
adopters for each, if they have been named?

6
caBIG Year 2
  • Q3 Since the release CTMS software will be a
major focus of caBIG in at least the short term,
how can centers not specifically involved with
the CTMS workspace assist with the development
and implementation of current CTMS goals? What
are the new plans/goals with respect to CTMS?
How does this affect the entire caBIG project and
how can we come together as a team to tackle
    these new challenges.

caBIG Year 2
  • Q4 Please help us understand the rationale
behind the Year 2 funding decisions. Among other
questions Why were cancer centers that
contributed actively and valuably as unfunded
participants during Year 1 not funded for WS
    participation?

9
caBIG Year 2
  • Q5 Please discuss the programs thinking about
the appropriate timing and considerations for
adopter selection. One of the most successful
projects to date is caTIES, and all team members
will tell you that a great deal of that success
is due to early identification of an enthusiastic
    adopter.

10
caBIG Year 2
  • Q6 Could you please clarify the criteria used to
determine the quality of proposals for those
applying to be developers, adopters and
    participants? Who makes the decisions?

11
caBIG and Regulatory Compliance
  • Q7 How will caBIG handle government regulatory
    compliances when dealing with foreign
    researchers?

12
caBIG and Government Initiatives
  • Q8 How will the recent reports/initiatives like
    the President's Cancer Panel report
    (http//deainfo.nci.nih.gov/ADVISORY/pcp/pcp04-05r
    pt/ReportTrans.pdf) on Translational Research and
    the CTWG report (http//integratedtrials.nci.nih.g
    ov/ict/CTWG_report_June2005.pdf) be incorporated
    into caBIG at ALL levels?

13
caBIG and Big Picture
  • Q9 How can we ensure that every caBIG project
remembers its role in the 'big picture' while it
appropriately focuses on details (e.g. start
end of each conference call, f2f, etc.)?

14
caBIG FAQs and Documentation
  • Q10 Are there any plans for consolidation of the
technical information provided in the caBIO_USERS
and other listservs into a FAQ, or for regularly
published supplements to the original caCORE SDK
documentation to include all this additional
    info?

15
