What is an information literacy model?
  • Follow the Big6 information problem-solving model
    whenever you need and use information.
  • The Big6 integrates information search and use
    skills, along with technology tools, in a process
    to find, use, apply, and evaluate information to
    specific needs and tasks.

  • I want to order a pizza

  • Phonebook
  • Newspaper
  • Internet
  • Coupons

  • Phonebook is in the drawer
  • The newspaper is in the recycling bin
  • The internet is on the computer in the library or
    lab
  • Coupons are on the bulletin board
  • The phone is on the counter

When I know what sources and where they are what
do I do next?
  • Decide which brand of pizza you want (Dominos,
    Pizza Hut, etc.).
  • Decide what toppings you want.
  • Decide what size pizza you want.
  • If I call in my order, it will be ready when I
    get there to pick it up, OR, maybe they will
    deliver it to me.

    sources
  • Take notes paraphrase, dont copy
  • Make an outline or put my note cards in order.
  • Write my rough draft.
  • Edit, then write my final copy
