2System Overview
- The American Express Purchasing Card technology
is called Corporate Account Reconciliation (CAR) - The tool allows you to review and reallocate
Purchasing Card transactions - Posted transactions will be grouped by billing
cycle - Note Enhanced line item detail will appear if
the merchant is a Level 3 supplier - The following options are available to these
posted transactions by choosing to - Review
- Reallocate
- Add additional information such as comments, to
the transactions - Users can also print a transaction summary or
export transaction into a CSV file format
3How Do I Get Started?
- How do I access the site?
- CAR can be accessed via the following website
https//amex.iers.ihost.com - It is recommended that you save this site under
My Favorites - To access use the Corporate Account Recon user
application you must have the following -
- Operating Systems- Windows XP, Windows 2000,
Windows Vista - Browser (Applet)- Internet Explorer 6.0 / 7.0 ,
Mozilla Firefox 1.0 / 1.5/ 2.0x - Java- Sun Java 2 Plug-In 1.4.2 to 1.6
- RAM-128 MB (Recommended 512M RAM with 128M
Allocated Heap Space to Java) - Disk Space (Applet)- Approximately 2 MB free
space. - How do I get a user name and password?
- When you log in for the first time, you will need
to self register - Once you have successfully created a user ID, a
temporary password will be emailed to you for
first time access - Log in to the tool change temporary password
4CAR Registration Step 1
- To register, start your web browser and enter the
URL https//amex.iers.ihost.com - The following screen should show up on your web
browser - Enter the your company key provided to you by
your Program Administrator in the field and
click on Register Now.
5CAR Registration Step 2
- Once the company key is validated, the system
will display an application form all fields
except "Middle Initial" are required. - If you do not have a Corporate Purchasing Card
(CPC) and still wish to register, check the
Non-cardholder box. - When you have finished filling out the online
form, click the Next button.
6CAR Registration Step 3
- If you left the Non-cardholder box unchecked in
the previous screen, then you will be prompted to
enter your CPC account number. - If you have more than one Card, you must enter
each CPC account number one at a time by clicking
on the Add Another Card button. - When you have finished entering your Card
information, click on the Next button.
7CAR Registration Step 4
- A review screen will be displayed which confirms
your user information. - If you are satisfied with the user information,
click on the Submit button to submit, otherwise,
click on Cancel to abandon registration. - Finally, you will be informed that your
registration is successful. - When your user profile is approved, the system
will send an email notification to the address
specified within your profile. The email will
contain the system-generated password for first
time access and will be sent from
atWork_at_amex.iers.ihost.com.
8CAR First Time Access - Step 1
- You will need
- Your user ID,
- System-generated password (from e-mail)
- Your company key
- The answer to your challenge question
- To log in, start your web browser and enter the
URL https//amex.iers.ihost.com on the address
bar, the following screen should show up on your
web browser.
1. Enter your User ID and system-generated
password (from the e-mail)
2. Click on the Log In button to continue
9CAR First Time Access Step 2
- Enter the company key and provide the answer to
the challenge question - COMPANY KEY for University of Calgary is as
follows -

2. Click on the Submit button to continue
10CAR First Time Access Step 3
1. This screen will prompt you to change the
system-generated password to your personal
password. Note Your personal password must be
6-14 characters long, and must contain at least
one number and one alpha character
2. After you have typed and re-typed your new
password, Click on the Change button to continue
11CAR First Time Access Step 4
- Next, you will be asked to install a plug-in
required to run the CAR end-user application. - The connection box will appear and the
application will launch shortly. If this box
does not launch, contact your Program
Administrator for assistance your PC or Browser
may not be setup properly.
1. Click on the Yes button to continue
12Accounts and Cycles Tab
1. If you have one card it will show here. If you
have two cards both card number will show here.
Choose the card you want to reconcile
2. This is current open month activity
3. These are the closed billing cycles. Only 5
months of history is available online
6. To review transactions for a specific month,
highlight the month and then click the Card Data
tab
4. If a lock is indicated in the E column, you
can view transactions but cannot make changes
5. Transaction Summary provides you with
information based on the month selected above
13Helpful Tips
- Keep in mind that you can reconcile your
transactions at anytime, on a daily, weekly of
monthly basis - You can use the Forgot Your Password option from
the homepage to reset your password if you have
forgotten or have locked yourself out with 3 or
more unsuccessful login attempts - You can customize your profile by clicking on
ViewgtList Options on the main page, which allows
you to set options for how the data is displayed
online or exported from Corporate Account
Reconciliation - Online Help is available within the tool as a
reference for you, however if you have a specific
question please contact your Purchasing Card
Account Administrator or use the Quick Reference
Card - Timeout Warning If you remain idle for approx
30 minutes a popup window will warn you that you
will be disconnected in 120 seconds
