Standard 1 - Curriculum
  • The KY Tech curriculum is aligned with the
curriculum at the Kentucky Community and
    Technical College System (KCTCS).
  • The KY Tech curriculum is defined in high school
credit hours that correspond with the amount of
time spent in the KCTCS course.
  • Each KY Tech course must be taught in its
entirety and for the duration specified by high
school credit hours for a student to be eligible
for dual credit with KCTCS and for transfer from
one secondary program to another secondary
    program in Kentucky.
  • Curriculum will play a major role in developing
equipment and supply budgets (Standard 16), the
program improvement plan (Standard 16), and the
    professional growth plan (Standard 15).
  • Courses offered will dictate ONet certificate
    opportunities for students.

6
Standard 1 Curriculum(Continued)
  • When absolutely necessary to use titles like
Carpentry I, Carpentry II, and Carpentry III,
identify KY Tech courses in Carpentry I, II, and
    III. For example
  • Carpentry I may include Introduction to Carpentry
and Lab (CAR 126 and 127), Construction Prints
(BRX 220), Industrial Safety (ISX 100), and Floor
and Wall Framing and Lab (CAR 190 and 191). (3
    high school credits)

Foundations and Lab (CAR 140 and 141), Ceiling
and Roof Framing and Lab (CAR 196 and 197),
Workplace Principles (WPP 200), and Fundamentals
of Math (MTH 100). (3 high school credits)

Lab (CAR 150 and 151), Exterior and Interior
Finishing and Lab (CAR 200 and 201), Intro to
Computers (CIS 100), and Personal Finance (BA

regardless of who is teaching the course, should
be included on the master schedule. For example,
technical math may be taught as Algebra I at the
