VelocityExtended Access Ability
  • A Bright Idea!

3
The Problem
  • How do you allow Special Needs personnel access
to the doors without causing alarms?

4
Velocity SNUX
  • Special Needs Extended Unlock is located on the
Setup Tab of the Controller Properties Window
  • This allows for additional seconds to be added
    to the default timers
  • Door Delay
  • Door Mode
  • DOTL

5
Setup Tab
6
Special Credential
  • Only those credentials with the Option of
Extended Time will be allowed the use of the
    extra seconds

7
Still Limiting Access
  • Otherwise the credential is the same, limiting
access with a Door Group, Card and Code choices

8
The Difference
  • On the Options Tab the Extended Access is selected

Does this credential require additional time?
9
Adding Time
  • The additional time is added to the door timers
    already established at each door

10
The Tricky Part
  • There are no guidelines as to how to make the
    adjustments
  • Each door has timers established
  • The extended seconds will be added to established
    timers

11
Another Use
  • Velocity also can add minutes
  • This is used for doors where propping the door
for limited requested times is normal

Evening Conferences
12
A Special Credential
  • Under Function select Extended

13
Door Group
  • Select a Door Group that includes a time and the
    readers

14
Credential Difference
  • The credential must be enrolled as Function
    Extended

15
Determine the Minutes
  • Once in place the person can establish the
minutes using the asterisk () and entering the
    number of minutes required

16
Use Pin Plus Minutes
  • An example is pin 2364 10 would add an addition
    of 10 minutes
  • 2364 0 would reset the door
  • OR the door closes and resets

17
Auto Relock
  • By selecting Auto Relock, when the door closes
    the timers are reset
  • OR the pin 0 to reset the door

18
24 Hour Limit
  • The Limit for minutes is 1440 minutes or 24 hours

19
A Warning Signal
  • A warning time can be set from 0 to 15 minutes
    per door
  • This activates the beeping of the ScramblePad
    prior to the alarm activating
  • The Alarm Control Block can also trigger to
    initiate other control functions

20
Display Time Left
  • The ScramblePad can display the number of minutes
    left
  • Check the following in the ScramblePad Options
    tab

(Door Properties Window)
Use Keypad numeric LEDs as annunciator box
21
Warning Alarm
A Warning Alarm appears as the timer approaches
zero
22
ScramblePad
  • The reader will show the minutes count down

Let Us Review
  • There are two types of Extended Access in
    Velocity

25
Extended Access Seconds
  • One uses the Controller Setup Tab and the Option
on the credential to establish additional seconds
    for the mobility - challenged

26
Extended Access - Minutes
OR
  • The extended access allows for additional minutes
to be added by the user

2365 10 10 minutes additional time for door
to remain open
27
Question
  • Must a user have access to all the doors using
    the Extended Access option?

28
The Answer

    the Extended Access option?

to only those readers in a Door Group.
29
Question
  • How could receiving make it easier to allow
deliveries and not have the Door Open Too Long
    Alarm trigger?

30
Answer
249822 22 minutes
Give personnel the Extended Access Function so

Extended by Minutes
  • Here a pin code plus 2 was used to allow a 2
    minute count down
  • The ScramblePad begins the count

34
So What is Different?
  • The Extended Access by controller allows
additional seconds to be added for those
individuals needing additional time to access the
    doors
  • Using a standard pin code

35
Extended Access
  • Extended Access by minutes allows the user to
determine how long in minutes to extend the
    timers
  • The ScramblePad will count down
  • Can be reset by Pin 0 or by shutting the door
