Making a Difference?
An annual Effectiveness Audit of Network is
undertaken during July. The Audit Process
directly records the views of all stakeholders
and requests that they judge the quality of the
service they receive. The Audit process
guarantees direct impact and influence upon the
way the service operates and responds to
individual circumstance.
6
Audit Process, Data Collection and Method of
Analysis
During July an audit of outcomes is undertaken.
The process and method of analysis pursued has
been used since 1996. The matrix of
standardised outcomes lies at the core of the
Audit process.

Audit Process, Data Collection and Method of
Analysis
At referral stage, referring agents are asked to
identify outcomes they predict occurring as a
direct result of Network involvement. Individuals
being referred are asked a more global question,
How do you wish your life to change as a
result of becoming employed? These are all
logged as Predicted Outcomes for audit purposes.
9
On occasions however, outcomes occur as a result
of Network Employment involvement, which were not
and/or could not have been predicted at referral.
These are logged as Unpredicted
Outcomes Individuals, their Carers, Clinicians,
Consultants and Employers are contacted directly,
and as part of a semi-structured interview, are
asked to rate their satisfaction with the service
and indicate the extent to which they feel
things have changed, against the Outcomes
listed.
Audit Process, Data Collection and Method of
Analysis
10
Scored Response Scale
Respondents are asked to score a change for the
worse, no change and a change for the better on a
numeric scale from 3 to 3. A 0 score
indicates no change.
From the individual Outcome ratings, consensus
figures are calculated. These are tabulated in
composite form, for each of the groups of
respondents to allow a global picture of benefits
enjoyed by clients as a whole.
On the whole the results are very encouraging,
with positive gains against each outcome across
all respondent groups.

design, delivery and performance of
WORKSTEP   Limited information on programme
performance, e.g. current measure of
progression is from the Programme into
unsupported employment.   Recommendation

- to include some measure of distance
travelled towards open employment.
26
WORKSTEP Distance Travelled Project (commencing
June 2006)   Aims to raise awareness of the hard
and soft outcomes associated with WORKSTEP, and
the value of capturing all relevant Programme
