  • only one window is active at a time
  • a window can be resized

more about a window
  • if the contents is too large to fit the size,
    scroll bars are displayed.
  • They allow the logical contents to be navigated
    from the physical window.

creating shortcuts
  • a shortcut is a file that is a pointer to another
    file.
  • take an application from the menu and use the
    special drag to put it on the desktop
  • you can rename (secondary click) and delete a
    shortcut. deleting the shortcut does not remove
    the target of the shortcut.

  • is a top-level access to files and folders on the
    computer
  • in web style, moving over an icon will give you
    information about it
  • you can use the address bar to type name of files
    and folders, it has auto-completion

  • in the standard tool bar with the folder ? views

delete
  • to delete file, righclick on the item, select
    delete
  • that moves it in the recycling bin
  • then click right on the recycling bin and remove
    it from there.

customizing the start button
  • you can special drag often-used items (programs
    or folders) to the start menu
  • you can rearrange items on the tool bar with the
    ghost and locator bar
  • similar exercise can be done on the favorites
    list in the folder view.
  • you can even move programs to the tool bar for
    quick access.
