Athlete and Staff Responsibilities
  • Wear Official PCI Apparel during any PCI
    organised media communication
  • Behave in a responsible and appropriate manner
    during all engagements with the media
  • Ensure all information to provided to the media
    is accurate and factual
  • Treat all media personnel in a courteous and
    polite manner

Dos and Donts
  • Do
  • Speak positively about your sport and experiences
  • Try and accommodate any media opportunities
    presented to you
  • Be yourself and let your personality come through
    in any interview
  • Be Prepared, plan in your mind what is the
    message you want to convey
  • Dont
  • Curse, Swear or be vulgar during interviews
  • Give out inaccurate or inappropriate information,
    if you are unsure do not pretend otherwise
  • Comment on an area that is not your area of
    expertise
  • Provide Off the Record comments as these will
    be interpreted as accurate information.
  • Dont use incorrect terminology ie Wheelchair
    Olympics etc.

What is the message to portray?
You are athletes who are professional in
preparation and dedication to your chose
discipline There is no difference between
athletes particpating in the Olympic and
Paralympic Games The Beijing Olympic and
Paralympic Games will be a spectacle of sporting
endeavour Two Games, Equal Splendour (BOCOG
motto) To represent Ireland will be one of the
greatest honours
